Dr. Navinderdeep Singh Nijher joins the staff at the Aesthetic Center
The Aesthetic Center for Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery is proud to welcome their newest surgeon, Dr. Navinderdeep Singh Nijher.
The "face" of plastic surgery is changing radically in America. Years ago, the average cosmetic patient was probably well-to-do, most likely female, and more often than not, over 50 years of age. Times have changed. Due to advanced techniques, elective cosmetic surgery has become more affordable and more accessible than ever.
For more than 25 years, the Aesthetic Center for Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery in Ocala has been changing lives, one patient at a time. A stellar reputation, paired with individualized patient care and attention has made the Aesthetic Center an extremely popular choice for prospective patients. So popular, in fact, that in order to maintain the quality level of patient care, the Aesthetic Center is welcoming a new surgeon to the staff -- Dr. Navinderdeep Singh Nijher, or Nav for short.
On September 11, 2001, Dr. Nijher was sitting in a dark room with fellow surgeons going over x-ray results. Not until an attending physician burst through the doors did Dr. Nijher and his colleagues become aware of the chaos that was taking place just miles from their front door. He wasted no time. Dr. Nijher was first dispatched to a level 1 trauma center where they were prepared to take care of more than 700 injured patients. When the patients didn't come, Dr. Nijher went to the patients. Dr. Nijher along with several other doctors, answered a call for volunteers to go directly to the World Trade Center site to help the injured and search for survivors.
"My first reaction was to do anything I could do to help," Dr. Nijher says. It's an experience that will stay with him forever. After spending several years in the New York City and Boston areas, Dr. Nijher and his wife decided it was time for a change.
"A change in pace was long overdue," he says. "In the pursuit to balance our careers and family life, my wife and I were looking for a city where family and community were people's highest priorities. After experiencing the beauty of the area and the local hospitality, we knew that Ocala would be the perfect fit."
And the doctors and management at the Aesthetic Center knew that Dr. Nijher would be the perfect fit for their office as well. With a plastic surgery fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital of Cornell and Columbia University, a general surgery residency at Maimonides Medical Center in New York, and a medical degree from Boston University, Dr. Nijher's resume is impressive.
"Not only has Dr. Nijher had excellent, impressive training," Dr. James Rogers says. "He's also incredibly personable and friendly. After just five minutes everyone at the office fell in love with him."
The feeling was mutual.
"The first time my wife and I met the Asokans (Dr. R. Asokan and Sagi) was in Philadelphia at a plastic surgery conference," Dr. Nijher says. "We were immediately drawn in by their warm and caring personalities. Then, after visiting the Aesthetic Center and meeting Dr. Rogers, one of the staff surgeons, as well as the rest of the team, it was clear that this was an ideal work environment. The opportunity to work in such a beautiful facility with such wonderful people made the Aesthetic Center an easy choice."
Having recently completed his training, Dr. Nijher will specialize in all aspects of body contouring, hand, and reconstructive surgery.
"We're very excited to have Dr. Nijher on staff. We're going to continue to provide efficient, effective, complete care to our patients," Dr. Asokan says.
